No, the specials are to be shipped the week of the special (I think it says in the fine print somewhere, LOL!). They are just trying to sell the current surplus of chicks.

I was tempted, but if I order chicks, I want to KNOW what I'm getting!

They allow you to pick your breed. We just got 23 bantam cochins in this morning..they sent 26 but 3 didn't make it.It costs a little more but still not a bad price at all.I would rather pay a bit more myself and not get breeds I don't want.
They never sent a follow up e-mail though...said they would ship on 2/10 and I would be notified. They sent them on the 9th and luckily I was still home when the PO called me at 6 am to come get them.

The special orders go out as soon as they are ordered.
Special order chicks are the ones that were not ordered in other words Ideal had a Over hatch of bantams and they have to go.
I was told by one of the sales people they Predict orders which simply means they say they will set this number of eggs in anticipation they will get that many orders.
Kinda like a overstock sale

Those are some adorable chicks can't wait to get mine in March

I don't want any chicks till the weather warms up having big stinky chicks in the house is not pleasant

I don't mind paying the extra to pick my breed. Heck, $1.24 is a great price..... but i really want Bantam Buff Orps and Bantam Barred Rocks. And both of those say they are sold out until April

. I don't know.... I asked hubby about it. If I order chicks, then I have to stay away from TSC during chick days.

I was think about ordering just 10 of the assortment bantams, but it wants my card info before it tells me the final total, after I fill in my info and card info and click continue will it still let me back out?? does anyone know??

There is a final submit button you have to click so you can back out if you want to or change your order. My chicks are adorable.I had a bunch hatch today as well so all are living together. Close to 100 baby chicks in my basement now...have to keep those brooders very clean so baby chick smell doesn't come up to visit-just the baby chick.

Here's what I got...

And your guess is probably better than mine, but they are all sooooooooo cute! I think I might have 2 Silkies and 1 EEer... but I could be wrong... I know at least 1 silkie for sure. I got halfway through the box jsut counting before I realized, "duh, I should be checking legs to see what I have". Now they are all mixed up. So I will wait until I get home from work and get my girls to help me check them all again. By then, they should be nice and warmed up and ready for me to take their pics!

Oh and they sent me 31 instead of the 25 I ordered. All arrived alive, although there is 1 or 2 weak chicks that I am a little worried about. The rest are all active and LOUD.... there is one little loudmouth that I can hear 3 rooms away!

cute cute cute!!! how many feather feeted ones do you have? i got quite a handful of those, and ended up with 3 of them being frizzles
