Ideal's silkies are bad, I ordered 6 blues, and 4 out of the 6 had pink toes.

Have received 4 orders from Ideal. The best by far was the buff brahmas. They are beautiful bantams. The light brahmas look to have been mixed with white cornish. The columbian wyandottes i ordered were white legged(supposed to be yellow) and i don't know what they were mixed with, hardly any columbian markings at all on hackle and tail feathers and 2 arrived with large combs.I've received 4 orders also from natures hatchery,columbian buff wyandotte,columbian wyandotte,deleware,and white plymouth rock. All 4 orders are pitiful examples of what they are supposed to be.At least 1/2 of each order arrived with white legs,and the deleware are almost completly barred.Mt. Healthy is the worst by far, i still don't know what they shipped to me.Bottom line, you get what you pay for.If you want pure bred chicks you will pay for them from a good breeder. Good luck!

Well, I just got an order of bantams from Ideal today. Since they're just 2 days old, there's no real telling on their quality, but all 4 blue silkies have black skin and feet with 5 toes each. All 4 bantam sultans have vaulted skulls and 5 toes on each foot. All 4 bantam GLW's look like GLW's, with rose combs. All 4 black frizzles look like my little blue bantam cochins did last time. I'm sure they're not going to be perfect, but so far they are definitely representative of their breeds.

I love Ideal, but for a chicken to win at the fair, I went with a BYC member's hatching eggs. Hope the one chick that hatched wins for me!

I ordered 8 silkies from them. Now, I am new to chickens and certainly no expert, but judging from pictures I have seen here and on the web I would say this: The two gray ones I got were very very pretty. Both have vaulted skulls and nice feathering, nice toes, etc. I got a buff one that is really nice, except she has black on her tail. I got two partridge ones. The pullet one is really pretty but her color is weird, not sure if it is normal for partridges but she is pretty much complaetely black with small gold flecks in her. I have two blue ones though, and they look like buzzards, lol. They have black skin and proper toes but their feathering is not nice at all, and they are small and scrawny compared to the others. The other thing is they said they may be bearded or non bearded and out of 8 only 1 was bearded. (ironically, a blue one, lol) I want to get some more this year and I will most likely order from them again, but not the blue ones. (It is possible I got a bad batch though, I don't know)
