ideals st. run chickens

I ordered 6 golden sebrights and 6 white silkies in september. I got 3 hens and 3 roosters of each with the exception of an extra silkie rooster as a packing peanut. It turned out to be a rooster.

Is this just coincidence? I've notice quite a few people are getting 50% female and 50% male in their straight run orders?

I order 50 - 100 chicks at at time from Ideal.
Most of the time its around 50/50 on the straight run.
If you get the assortment I have recieved (1) Black and Whites.
(2)Buff White and Red, (3)Grey and Buff, White and Partridge.
Although during the summer heat I lost all but 3 chicks from order (3).
They did refund but it was real sad to open a box of dead chicks and have the postal worker say she thought they were sleeping!
Anyway my point was for the color assortment call them first and ask whats hatching that week and you will get an idea of whats coming.
When I hatch at home I tend to get more roos with the silkies than when I order.

I am splitting some with a friend...and I am going to pass some to friends who raise chicks on the ones I don't want...lol.

I have tried talking with Ideal and they are kind of rude. I am starting to regret working with them. I asked to add some ducks in on my order and you would think I was asking her to pull her own teeth out. She said its what ever is on hand at the time. I said well can you give me an idea on whats due to hatch out around then and she wouldn't say. Very vague.

I ordered 12 frizzles from Ideal in Nov and they are black and red, no white ones at all (which I really wanted), plus some packing peanuts. I had a few fatalities and ended up with 3 red frizzles, all hens and 4 black frizzles, only one roo and 2 plain janes (both hens) so I think I did pretty well. Plus, some of the packing peanuts are hens, and I think they are EE's. I'm going to order some white frizzles separately, I guess because thats what I really wanted.
