Ideas for a large enclosed run...40x24 ft

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I have my General Contractor coming Wednesday for some ideas and quotes.

We have a Tuscan theme back yard and the pool goes in the ground in December so we are trying to match the pergola on our covered patio and the one over the pool with the chicken run so it will balance the theme of the back yard from the sitting areas for people to the areas for chickens.

Our main run is 16 x 36. We just roofed the end 12 x 16 section.

I lived in AZ for several years and just wondering, if you have tried to dig holes for your post? We built a fence where we lived and broke 2 hole diggers. We were like you didn't like the chain link, but that's what we ended with. After figuring our cost of construction verus the fence company. For about $250 more that we could buy materials, we got the fence company to build it. 30x50. You might want to see how hard it is to dig holes for your post. That dirt y'all have is pretty hard. Those hole diggers we broke, fit on my tractor, not the hand type. If we had been digging with the hand type, we might still be digging.

Teach1rusl,
I like the spacing on your run. How tall is it inside? 8ft?

Wayne,
I know what you mean. I have planted about 15 trees in my yard this year and I have only dug the holes for 3 of them. Our Acre has been flood irrigated for 20 years and the ground is pretty workable, when a little damp.

What part of AZ did you live in, and where are you now?

DO you have any photos of your old run?

No...just over 6" height, although the panels are in 8ft sections... 6x8 for the wall panels and 8x8 for the roof panels...except for the far end that's only 4ft. Here's the end we just covered:

I like the look of your roof and spacing. I want the same style roof and material and will stop 2/3 of the way to the front and run the pergola from there out for appearances and dappled shade....(full blasted sun in AZ).
