I was thinking of making some yogurt pops and frozen bananas for my chicks once they come and can be put outside. Anyone else have good ideas?

My chickens LOVE watermelon! I make sure it's nice and cold. Right from the fridge. Plus, it's good to hydrate them.

P.s. They also like cantalope.

Give mine a melon of any kind and they think they are in heaven!
Refrigerate or even freeze grapes, strawberries any smaller type fruits or veggies (cut 'em in half first) (( it's easier that way)).

I don't know why I didn't think of all those other fruits.

Great ideas! Should I peel the skins off of grapes when they are little?

My chickens are spoiled! A non food "treat" that I do is I have shade cloth as a roof and on two sides of the coop and I set up a soaker hose to let water run down it. On hot days I turn it on and it's the coolest spot in the yard b/c it works like a swamp cooler. As for food treats I use my food processor ever few days to make a big batch of crushed ice, crushed frozen fruit (strawberries, tomatoes, whatever I have extra of), sometimes I'll use yogurt that I have put in the freezer and they love it. It cools them off very quick. I just take about a third of whatever I've made and give it to them and put the rest back in the freezer for the next day easy treat. I also save left over rice from dinner and serve it right from the fridge with a little milk (ice cold). See? Spoiled. However, all I have to do is start walking toward the coop with a bowl in my hand saying "Treeeaaaats!" all high pitched and they go nuts. I love my babies!

We're going to try frozen peas, lightly thawed, and maybe other frozen greens, too.

In BC we're up in the 30's all this week ahead.

That's not common for us in long stretches!
