My chicken run has no natural trees - I got big tall trunk of driftwood from the beach and secured it in the ground and want to drill driftwood branches on it to make a tree for them to perch on (whole run will be covered by aviary netting).

I asked Google for pics, tutorials, ideas and google said “you’re weird, who does that”

Does anyone have any ideas? I’m bad at envisioning and feel like if I start drilling pieces on randomly it’s going to look not so tree-like.

Has anyone done this? Or anything similar? My husband is not artsy fartsy like me and has repeatedly said he doesn’t want the property to look like “trash”…how rude!

Any non-trashy ideas? The pic below is all I have done so far. My little Toot Toot had a whole table to perch on and she picked the piece of driftwood to sit on - see, she really wants a real tree perch!

Thanks so much!!!

I wouldn't worry about making it look like an actual tree. I know there's a few folks on here with "chicken trees" and they usually have "branches" set every 90 degrees spiraling upwards, sort of like a spiral staircase with branches north, east, south, west. Hope that makes sense, I can't recall who on here has them for photos of examples...

Awe, thanks so much for the encouragement - I think pics would be all I need to get me going. When you google it all you get is Christmas trees or miniature trees. I just KNOW some Backyard Chickens people have done this - need pics!!!!
