Ideas for marking maple trees? (For making maple syrup)

I want to start marking my maple trees around my yard with something bright so that when it comes time for me to tap them, they will be easy to find. Do any of you guys have any ideas on what to mark them with?

You can tie a yellow ribbon round that old maple tree!

A grease pencil might also work.

How many maple trees are there? A maple tree is not an elm tree. When it comes time to tap them, go put a tap in them, or is it like crab fishermen? If you mark an area, it's yours?

Doesn't it take a specific type of maple to produce the right sap for maple syrup? I don't know. Just asking.

learn to identify the tree by the texture of the bark and the leaves it produce... then you won't need to worry about marking them.

But if you must, get some plastic, surveyor tape, it's cheap and brightly colored.
