Hey all! We have an earthpond that's about 13,000 gallons. We dug it out and left one stump in the middle. Our hope was to put a duck house on it and let the ducks use that at night for protection from predators (pond is also in the middle of a fenced in garden). I was originally thinking of just putting a small dog house on the stump, but then realized there would be no easy way to clean the droppings out. Then I thought of raising it a few inches off the stump somehow and putting a wire bottom in it so that I could stand on the bank and spray out the house with a hose every little bit... droppings would go right in the pond... but wire flooring doesn't sound very comfy or warm. I could build a small bridge leading to the house and only use it for cleaning times, or getting eggs if our ducks end up female... then just use shavings inside on a wooden floor?? I really don't know. Anyone have other ideas??
