Hi all,
I'm sure this information is already out there but I have not had much luck finding it yet.

I'm looking for ideas for feeders to use when feeding wet materials to the chickens. Things such as FF, mash, oatmeal, etc etc. I prefer homemade items.

thanks

I just have a plate that is slightly bowl shaped and put it on the ground. So far I have given mine oatmeal, but they weren't too in to it. They are about 2 months old and I only have 5.

I've tried various bowls that I have laying around but the rooster just flips it and dumps the contents. I know I could just buy a dog bowl type thing but I'm trying to work with what I have laying around.
Many years ago my dog would dump his water dish all the time, I ended up using an old angel food cake pan placed over a stake. Solved that problem but I no longer have that old pan plus I'm looking for ideas of something a little bigger.

I thought I saw on here where someone had used large PVC pipe to make a long trough feeder but can't find it again.

the fermented feed thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/645057/fermented-feeds-anyone-using-them
has pictures of how some people feed them (though you have to wade through tons of other pics and some of slaughtered birds, just fyi)

I tried taking the top off of a round chick feeder and using the. Gwyn jumps in to scratch everything out. Set it up on bricks to get it chest level. Jumps on top and knocks it off. So, now they get fed with the top on. It kinda works. They can't reach the middle so I have to be careful and only put it toward the outside edge, but so far it's at least functioning and Gwyn can't be a jerk. The silkie doesn't like to stick his head in there though, so I also have a little no flip bowl from the bird isle at walmart. It's tiny, but the silkie loves it and since there are only three and they are still small (and bantams anyways) it works for now.

Depends on what you have laying around...

After getting ideas from this site, I made one out of 2x4 and a 2x6 scraps. Took the 2x4 and cut it in half to get two pieces the same length. Screwed them together to form a 90 degree angle. Then I cut two pieces of 2x6 the same length and screwed them to the sides, making caps for the v shaped trough and legs. I was using it in the coop and had it pressed down in several inches of shavings, so I made the legs longer. I have since moved it outside and it's still just a bit tall for most of the chicks, so I have a cinder block next to it they can hop on if they want.

If you have any decent sized PVC pipe, cut it in half lengthwise and then screw it down to blocks or pieces of 2x4 so that it won't roll over. Make it long enough and you don't even really need sides.

Some people use pieces of gutter - you can stick them in the holes of cinder blocks to raise them up.

I also pick up plastic/melamine trays that they discount after each holiday has passed. Good to keep some of them scattered about and occasionally plop some food or treats down on them.

I use the pvc pipe method for my dry food inside the coop and it works really well so far. I refill it every two weeks or so and I've got 7 buff orpingtons (granted they free range during the day). I'm just starting the fermented feed process today (the making of the food, so it won't be ready for a few days from now) and plan on using that food for them out in the run and I'll likely just use an old cake pan so they can get at it and it'll be harder for them to flip/scratch it out.

I tried many bowl type feeders for "wet food".

They kept dumping it on the floor.

I finally got the message.

I now just dump it on the floor...

That's exactly the situation I'm in. Everything I use they just dump out, for awhile I was just dumping it on the ground in the compost corner of the run. But I've been getting scraps from the lunch room at work and I want to be able to remove whatever they haven't eaten by dusk, it's drawing too many animals to the run.
