Ideas to help me sleep!!

I have had this problem before. I saw where one poster talked about thinking about something she like to do like fish while she relaxes to go to sleep. This is what I do I dream about the farm I want to build. I have fibormyalgia and getting a full nights sleep is really hard but I really need it. so doc has me on zanxa 1mg works great. its also an anti-anxiety pill that also helps. I hope you can find something that works for you. I also use a CD that has a rainstorms on it that also helps me sleep. Good luck.

I would suggest a Dr. visit. It is not "normal" to have trouble sleeping for extended periods of time, so I am thinking that it may be stress or anxiety-related. A doctor can advise you on what to do to get back into a healthy sleep pattern. Likely it would be healthy eating, exercise, sticking to a routine bedtime and awake time, and possibly an anti-anxiety prescription for a few weeks to help get you back on track. Once you re-establish the healthy pattern, you likely wouldn't need to continue the prescription.

Nyquil.

Alcohol always puts me to sleep.

Although I have not drank in over a year but everytime I did which was not often, maybe that is why it put me to sleep....makes me feel hot and then I am out before I know it.

Set an alarm clock.. It seems like I get my best sleep after the alarm goes off.

I had to start setting mine earlier than I needed it just so I could sleep and not be late for work.. I had to do something, I was tossing and turning all night.

And sleeping pills only worked for a short term fix it seemed.

Tylenol PM does the trick for me. I feel the name brand work better than generic but Wal-Mart's equate brand is a close 2nd. They do not work well after the 3rd day in a row but they can get you on a better sleep schedule (kind of like a reset button). I wouldn't take them everyday anyway. Try 2 at 9 PM X 3 days. Benadryl is the ingredient in Tylenol PM that helps you sleep, I have used Benadryl for the same purpose.

In my 40's (just a couple years ago:lol:) I went through a spell of this. I was facing a lot of stress in the work environment and this may have been the cause. The only thing that worked for me was to get outdoors and do measurable physical work. Looking over my shoulder at what I had accomplished plus the exhaustion

were the ticket to resuming a normal sleep pattern. Our bodies can get into wierd cycles and reprogramming can be difficult.
