We adopted a rabbit from some friends who received him through complicated circumstances. Anyway, we were told he's a lionhead. What do you think? He's 3 lbs. And from what I can tell, he's hairy everywhere. No skirt, just all over lots of hair. Right now, he's lots of mats, but we're working on that. Thanks for any help with this!

Now that's a mane, if not a Lionhead, maybe an Angora? I remember meeting some kids who had Lionheads, the rabbits had a big mane but shorter fur beyond.

Yep, that's a Lionhead. A lot of them look rather like a Jersey Wooly in an unfortunate state of molt, but with those fuzzy ears, there really isn't anything else he could be (not in the U.S., anyway).

My guess would have been Jersey Wooly but rabbitlady seems to know her stuff and I only have a couple as pets, not to breed, so I don't really know the difference between a Lionhead and a JW. Congrats on your new family member!

Jersey Woolies are supposed to have short hair on their ears. While they may have tufts of longer hair on the ends of their ears, they never have wool. They have a wool "cap" on their heads, and some side trimmings on their cheeks, but it just doesn't have the look of a mane.

Jersey Wooly Lionhead (not my pics)
