I have a hen from last spring that I have yet to adequately identify as to her breed. I am thinking she is a Gold Laced Wyandotte but she doesn't really resemble any of the pictures I have seen of that breed. Not all chickens of a breed look alike obviously and I wonder if she has some other genes from another breed. I find her coloration quite striking. She has some unique behaviors as well. She was always on the small side and to my knowledge has yet to lay an egg. She could have, as you never know for sure which one laid a brownish egg. I believe she did produce a 'lash egg' and I fully expected her to succumb to the infection. She is fine some months later and appears to be undergoing a mid life growth spurt.

Thanks for the input. While purchasing my yearly batch of chicks the Wilco store where I bought them had a laminated breed information card with pictures. The picture of the Barnevelder looks exactly like my Golda. Other photos I have seen of the Barnevelder breed looked very different. I suppose chicken breeds don't always present the same way as they are all hybrids and dominant genetic traits of their ancestors will prevail but non-dominant traits have a habit of presenting occasionally.
In any case, the mystery is solved. I have a beautiful Barnevelder.
