Venomous snakes are very different. I'm lucky enough to live in an area with only two venomous snake species, the copper head and timber rattlesnake. The rattlesnakes were hunted to near extinction so if i ever find one of those i'm calling a wildlife official and getting him relocated somewhere safe and away from people (i have a soft spot for rattle snakes, they get a bad rap but i don't know why, they warn you if you're threatening them and usually don't inject venom when they do bite since they have a very limited amount and prefer to use it for hunting) I'd love to see one in person one day, I've only ever seen pictures and I'd like to tell them that someone cares about their survival and that people really are trying to bring them back now, they wouldn't understand but they'd be on a truck to a much safer place for both snake and human. Unfortunately any copper heads will need to be taken care of as they are an aggressive species and have habits of chasing people out for a walk. I will generally try to save any snake, even a copper head (especially copper heads i think they are just beautiful little animals) but I'm not completely in control of what my father does and while he was growing up relocating a snake was unheard of. It's unfortunate because ultimately just like non venomous snakes they're just trying to live, but if left around there's a chance he could harm my brother or my other pets (the chickens are not allowed near the woods and are a safe distance away), so they have to go.I agree with you whole heartedly! You have a better knack for saying it then I do, lol! If it’s a venomous snake I don’t want it around obviously, but the only snake like that we have is a rattler and they stick to the hill slopes, not the city!

I'm sorry i have just waited forever for an thread involving reptiles i loved them before chickens, pretty much before anything. I love them and actually know stuff about them so i couldn't help chiming in.
Love rattle snakes, love them i don't know what it is i just love em. It's like a dream of mine to find one i don't know why my father raised me to hate them. They won't bite unless somebody bothers them (though we have a snake here, the northern brown snake, very aggressive but very slow). Overall i don't think snakes are a big threat, they're just scared. I mean they don't have arms or legs i imagine it's hard for them to defend themselves. We have only one venomous snake species, the northern pacific/western rattle snake. They are neat animals and like all snakes, vastly misunderstood. I have been lucky to see one with my own eyes and get a picture! (My mom was very scared for my safety! I told that it wasn’t rattling so she shouldn’t be worried until it was!)

I’ve never seen a copperhead, but I’ve heard plenty of stories about them and have been in their territory before. (Exploring a swamp in Arkansas in he night... my Grammie nearly had a heart attack when she found out where my aunt and I had been! No bites, just a few ticks!)
In my opinion, a snake won’t hurt you if you don’t hurt it, so don’t hurt it. Everything in life is just trying to find a way to survive, including us. It makes us no better off to kill an innocent creature. What does that say about us? Just live and let live.
