Identifying breed..is it an eagle?

Mixed breed and I think cockerel because that's a lot of comb for 8 weeks. He's a little too young for rooster feathers yet but in a few more weeks, he will either suddenly look like a young rooster or look the same, just a bit larger (pullet). And juveniles tend to look more angular and gawky but if you aren't feeding a diet appropriate for a growing chick, you could be negatively affecting its growth, too.

Chickens are flock birds and yours would be happier if you could provide a flock for him.

i wish i could get it another chicken but the dude who hatched it didn't get it vaccinated and it's too old to get vaccinated now. i think it might also be a rooster because i've seen pictures of Legbar cockerels that don't have the droopy tail feathers or large combs so i'm thinking it could be one of those. it started crowing almost like a rooster this morning when i was getting it breakfast but i'm reading female chickens will do that if they're raised alone. there's a rooster around the block always crowing and i think that's what was getting it going if it's a female. it didn't sound like a rooster crow but it was definitely in that ballpark and it hasn't happened since
I think the diet is on point i'm feeding it medicated chick starter mixed with cashews, pistachios, sunflower seeds, hemp, flax, salmon oil, mealworms and a softboiled egg out of the shell on top. also eats lots of kale and bugs in the garden so i'm not sure how much more i can do. if there is more i would definitely do it though

Wow! What an unusual looking chook :D
ty! it's definitely a challenge identifying it haha it also seems a little more aware and predatory than the other chickens i've seen so maybe it has had genetics mixed so much that it's just turning into a more typical sort of jungle fowl. it almost snatched a bird out of the air the other day! the closest looking i've seen are Legbars but they still look more dopey than my bird

A couple weeks of practice and he'll sound like a rooster. Cockerel all go through the squeaky gate phase before producing a full blown crow. Being aware of surroundings is a good rooster trait.

I'm not sure I understand your remark about vaccinations. What is it you think is going to happen if you put him with chickens that have been vaccinated for something? And vaccinated for what? Most farm store chicks have been vaccinated for Marek's and it makes no difference in mixing them if he wasn't. The Marek's vaccine is a strain of the virus that doesn't cause illness in chickens but provides some protection from the similar chicken strain. There is zero chance it can cause the chicken Marek's virus to occur.

ty that sounds promising! i'd definitely like to buy it a woman if it's a guy or an egg to sit on if it's a female. really hard to tell because it doesn't have the feathers, spurs or a huge comb yet. i have a feeling it might be easier to tell soon so fingers crossed!
