My buff orpington rooster was killed today. Only I bird was killed and all that was left was feathers, some guts, and 1 wing. It also killed it inside the fence they live in. Thinking maybe a fox but curious if anyone knows for sure. I will keep my birds in and put a camera out. I would like some idea of what I may be dealing with. :(:barnie
 
I'm sorry about your rooster. It could be a fox or a raccoon. Both of those critters can climb fences. Unfortunately once wild predators get a taste for chicken, they may come back looking for more. Keeping the birds in as you say is a good idea. We had to cover our chicken run with welded wire top to keep out raccoons.
