Identifying your peeps

Do any of you mark your peeps with those little colored rings I see advertised on ebay? How in the world do you put them on anyway? And they have a zillion sizes..how do you know what size you need?

I don't but I've used them on other birds before. Takes about 2 weeks before their legs outgrow the bands so you have to watch carefully and take them off and move up a size. You just slip them over the feet. Should be size charts floating around somewhere on the interweb.

I believe that they are coiled up so you just unwrap them and slide them around, like a bracelet.

I used to have the metal kinds on my amazons when I was younger. I never could understand why... lol, now I know!

I read somewhere that those tiny colored rubber bands work well too.

Can one use TyeWraps. If you don't sinch them down tight I'm thinking they may work, but I don't know if they will slipand tighten around the leg. . I ask because I have a bunch left over from my wireing days, several different colors and thicknesses. Maybe one could use the real thin ones on chicks and as they grow go thicker.

Why not just use a different color maker for each breed and put a dot on their head, that way you don't have a band that can get caught in something and break their leg.
