I just bought some silkie chicks from a lady in NH. They are wonderful and I'm very pleased so far with them!

My questions are/ is:
How to tell them apart?
Should I tag them, and if so, how?
Could I "redneck" a tag somehow from some kind of recyclable plastic laying around the house?
Could I crochet tiny little colorful bands to identify them? If so, would they be pecking at them?
(Thought of toenail painting...hubby looked at me kinda strange)

I need to mark them for identification purposes for their care by the petsitter when I'm away. Their personalities will come out later and will identify them somewhat in the future, but...

If you got any thoughts on the subject, please fill me in!

Right now there are 4 white silkies and 1 blue. All the whites are at different ages as of now. (small, medium, large and an adult) The adult is already banded from a test, so no problem there...

thanks in advance,

Sylvia

can you dot them with finger nail polish?

we we had our 8 choc lab puppies the vet advised us to use white finger nail polish to distingish them. (they got little dots)

but i cant tell you how many times i had to answer questions about the little white dots....

This is got to be the best chocolate dominos I've ever seen...WAIT ?!! they're puppies!!!
How long did the dots stay on?
Very adorable litter! That was my thought too...but, was thinking maybe some food coloring on their feathered legs...for the short term anyways. Ater all, Easter is just around the corner and I might as well decorate everything. Right?

we had to freshin dots about every 2 weeks as the hair fell out etc.

but by about 6 weeks the wife had went out and bought a bunch of little diffrent colored collars for them...
