Identity Crisis!

Does anybody have an idea of what breed this chick is? It’s around 7 weeks old. I purchased it at Rural King and it was identified as “Rainbow.”

I think they're a hatchery hybrid? Hoover's doesn't have much about them on their website.

I think they’re also called Dixie Rainbows. That one looks almost like a meat bird though, with those legs

They are a dual purpose variety, bred to be quick growing for the table but also making good layers if that is what the owner desires. They are not short lived like Cornish cross.

I am not sure on gender. Time will tell. Watch the comb/wattles for growth and red coloring over the next few weeks.

Also, it is a very pretty chicken. Beautiful colors.

Thank you! I did notice how fast it was growing, as it is as large or larger than my Americanas who are a couple weeks older.

Yeah those legs are pretty thick
