I say rooster too... looks like spur buds on the legs.

I had several roos that looked similar to this one. They were a cross of Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns. By the second generation, the roos had more white feathers and the red ones had turned nearly orange.

Give the bird a break! I bet he's going to be big and beautiful when he's fully grown.

i know he is gonna be beautiful one day... but if look at the title of this thread, even mom called him a "thing"....

most animals (and people) go through an "ugly" stage of their lives,, i have been in mine for 20 years now.. when it gonna end????

SHE,,lol,,, has awful small wattles compared to the comb size,,,, that usually comes from the leghorns,, and for size, i would think its saddle feathers should show more,,,,BUT,,, looking at ITS neck,,,,,

my bet is its a chicken...

Looks like a cockerel to me, even though the comb is smaller, those legs are thick.​

I totally agree with everyone else, I think I see saddle feathers there, do see pointed hackle feathers and look at those legs!
