If a chick still poops, it means it doesn't have a pasty butt right?

I mean, I THINK I see dried poop around the edges of some chicks' butts, but they still poop. I would imagine it is kinda annoying or uncomfortable, should I still try and remove it? So far the one I tried to help did NOT like it one bit. Then again, that one IS a drama queen/king....

Pasty Butt would be a nice hardened poop 'cap' over the cloaca.

Best google img I can find at the moment :

I know, but I'm just wondering if the chicks care if they have hardened poop over other parts of their butt, or if they'd think I was nice for cleaning it for them.

if they can poop, they're fine
just make sure nothing is covering the vent and it should all be good in the hood

They won't think you're "nice" for cleaning it, but they will be healthier. Chickens don't think about nice. Remember they are mini-velociraptors with all actions geared towards survival so that their genes may be passed on. Or something like that.

I would clean off any poop stuck around their vents, as when they evacuate more poop will stick to it until you have a huge glob. GAG!
