Crosses to a Bbred will produce birds that are a black-red. They come out mostly black with red leakage in the hackle and saddles, similar to a brown-red/brassy back but not really. They are somewhat hard to explain. We have a couple running around in the barn these days. They are from Katherine Plummer bloodlines years ago. We have some of birds that were a crele project, and hatched BBReds and Crele from hatching eggs from that project, then crossed the bbreds with nice blacks and hatched the black-reds, and had plans to keep working to create a new line of bbreds, but lost several birds over time to age and foxes, so now they run around in the barn and look pretty. They hatch multiple clutches a year, this year we got cuckoo/barreds, brassy back-ish, blues, blacks and one that looks like a brown red. Rosecombs were our first breed, but we no longer breed or show them other than whats "wild" in the barn.
