Or, better said as, I've got to get it built before they come....haha...

Gonna build a new chicken house and run. (Have chicks on order coming next month.... Used to raise them in the past, but haven't had any for some time now.)

I've started cleaning up the spot where I want to build it. There was a bunch of stuff (loosely translated junk haha) piled up there....

Going to start with the wall of an existing building for the back of it and work out from there. Thinking the house will be about 16x16. Then a covered overhang of 8 or 10 feet maybe out from that, and the run will continue out from there, for an as yet undetermined length.

Got the coopsite pretty well cleared off this morning. Then worked on taking down a wooden fence which is going to be utilzed in the coop and pen construction.

My hands and feet are blistered and sore....lol....Ouch.

Oh dear, didn't anyone tell you to wait until the chicks arrive and then start thinking about the coop? That's the way most of us do it.......

Maybe getting started trying to get the building process going tomorrow....been trying to plan things out....

Going to actually go with a 16 x 8 house. That makes the dimensions more manageable for the materials and still gives a decent amount of room.....8x8 roosting area and 8x8 area for nests and walking around in (me walking around in, that is).

i am in the same boat as you lol... i got my chicks.. kept them in my bathtub.. worked on coop..chicks grew.. moved to pen in basement...worked on coop.....they are now flying around in the basement.. 8 weeks old.. still working on coop.. so start early. the coop and run take forever to build lol...hopefully mine will be outside soon.. next week..hehehe hubby is using his vacation to finish coop and run.. poor guy
