Unless you one of the hens don't want to wait for it's turn n the nesting box one will do.
But we have one hen who does not like waiting, and has one nest she always uses and throughs a fit if one of the other hens is using it when she wants to. So in the older Chickens coop we have two nest for 4 birds just to make her happier.
