our RIR roo, is flogging our girls all morning long.
So, if the eggs were fertile, would the off spring only lay brown eggs? Because I read somewhere that the rooster determines the egg color, right?

And could someone show a pic of a fertile egg. I read somewhere else that when you crack open an egg you can tell if it's fertile. I would like to see the inside. All i'm seeing right now is the whiteish cloud attached to the yoke. I can't remember the correct term for this.

thanks
Melinda

I've read that the blue/green egg gene is closely linked to the comb. I would think that if chicks had a comb like the hens, they'd likely lay colored eggs too. (If they're girls!)
BBK was right- if an egg is fertile it will have a small circle with a dot in the middle, or "bullseye". It's not the cloudy thing that hangs from the yolk. I don't knowwhat that's called either.
