If predator proof, what is the purpose of putting them inside at night?

I lock mine in mostly for that extra layer of security. My run is proof against larger preditors, foxes, coyotes, skunks etc... but small like rats, I have in my run. Unfortunetly, they moved in before I could set up the measures to keep them out. So, I want that extra layer of security in my coop to keep the rats out of that.
