if the incubator was set at 96 instead of 100 would anything hatch?

I had my thermometor sensor at the top of the incubator and thought the temp was 101 degrees (hovabator, no fan),.

At lock down when I realized the thermometor sensor was at the top instead of at the bottom where the eggs were I realized the temp at the bottom was only around 96 degrees.

Do you think it is possible that any will hatch. They are supposed to hatch today.

I put 4 eggs under a broody hen the same day I set these in the incubator. 3 out of 4 of the hens eggs have hatch but not a peep out of the incubator yet.

They will probably hatch very late. Low temperatures slow development and delay hatch. A couple years ago I had a chick hatch on day 27-28, because my thermometer was reading 99.5F, when it was actually 85 F. Always calibrate your thermometers! Just hang on, and maybe you'll have some peeps in a few days. Good luck!

Often late chicks are not thrifty chicks. Be ready to offer a little more help than usual with vitamins and water mixed with brown sugar. Good luck, hope those babies show up for you in just a few extra days!!
