If the mother hatches chicks

I wish it was like that with my flock of ducks and chickens I almost always find most of not all the babies dead within days😔
I'm so sorry to hear this. Do you need to separate the mothers and babies from the rest of the flock until they get a little older?

The hens have fat reserves they can live on during brooding, "lockdown," and hatching.

I tried again just recently and tried that too but I still found a duckling dead away from the mother and the other just gone disappeared. Another time I found 2 wedged behind a board behind the nest and the mother had gotten out. Now I just try to hand raise all the babies. I've only had success once with one of my Welsh Harlequin duck mom's maybe last year when I did it.
