... by law you treat it as an all way stop. It doesn't matter if you think there is traffic at the intersection or not. Even if you can see for 4 miles in all directions, it is still an all way stop, especially when you are driving in the city!

The power is out here, estimated time till 1 transformer of 2 that blew is back up is about 2 hours or so, in which partial service will be restored. So here I am at work, and on my way going here, at about 3/5 of the intersections that didn't have power, people weren't stopping! How crazy is that? Luckily traffic was light and there wasn't too huge of an issue, but it drives me nuts when people drive with disregard to other people's safety.

Police/Public Works are putting out stop signs at some of the major intersections that are without power as numerous complaints are coming in to dispatch about people running through these intersections.

Well, I was planning to come in to work on this fine Sunday, but I did want to do a few things at home, but those will wait until tonight.

You would think people would know to treat out stoplights as all way stops! They teach it to you when you drive, it's on the driving test, and I would think common sense. That would be mayhem if nobody stopped at an outage intersection in a big city.

We were downtown yesterday on a two way street at a crosswalk. A younger woman, an older woman, and a little girl were waiting to cross. We stopped to allow them. Just as they got in front of my car, the car behind me went around me on the left, and right through the crosswalk where the laidies were.

IDIOTS!

Yes, depending on what state you live in, passing a vehicle that is stopped at a crosswalk is against the law. In my state, I believe it is a class B traffic infraction.

And yes, I read my state's traffic laws for fun...

i got pulled over once for not stopping for 2 people in a crosswalk.

cop let me go though when i explained to him i couldn't see the 2 people standing behind a van parked on the side of the road. i saw them as i was already in the middle of the crosswalk.

my brother is a cop, he LOVES pulling people over who don't stop for crosswalks and especially for not stopping for school buses.

when it comes to driving, every one is an idiot except for me

if you read your laws I believe(I may be wrong though) it is legal in most states to run down those that J-walk outside of crosswalks.

Well, let me tell you...when I was in college about 12 years ago, I was going to class and got run over by a car in an intersection (guy turning into the intersection looking over his shoulder for traffic conveniently missed the human in front of him). I was crossing at the intersection but *I* was cited, because there was a crosswalk a block away and I should have been using it! I still think that's bizarre, considering that I was taught in driving school that pedestrians ALWAYS have the right-of-way.
