IF the worst happens, what would you do? (Micro duck)

For those that have been following Micro ducks progress and for future reference, I would like to pick everyone's brain with a question.

If the day comes and Micro duck passes on, who would have a necropsy done?

I have a facility here in NC that does them for $5. That is not the issue though. My only hesitation is that I will not get her body back to bury her and the thought of cutting her up horrifies me.

I would like to know just what went on in her tiny body. Maybe some of you will have words of wisdom to help me decide if the time ever does come. I just don't want to be stuck in that situation and try to decide on my own then.

Hopefully the day will not come any too soon.
Thanks,
Sue

If it were me, I would let her rest in peace in your backyard and just let it be a mystery

I would get the necropsy. It isn't the flesh left behind that is the important part. It is your memories.

A necropsy might be very helpful to other duck owners and lead to effective treatment or ways to prolong the life of a micro-duck.

I would get the necropsy as well. At least if you did that and you can across the same thing or someone else does, you'd know what it was that caused it. It's the soul that matters, not the body. I hope that it doesn't come to this though. Good luck with her. I've been following the story as well.

If the day comes of her passing, only the shell will be left behind. Her spirit will be around you and her home. No one can cut that up. Do the necropsy and find out what happened. You could make a stepping stone now like you do with kids' fingerprints but use her foot and mount a picture of her on it. That way you always something there.

I would get the necropsy done too. If I didn't, I would forever need to know what happened. It would make me crazy. I know it is so sad to have done, but as others have said- you would still have the memories of her.

Every now and then we get a call duckling that doesn't grow. Once it does finish growing they are a little smaller that the others, but they do just fine if they make it that far. It is a 50/50 chance your little guy will make it over a year old. When showing calls we want a small duck anyways

so it works out I guess.

I would hate to do it but I would..Because not knowing something also eats at me..or making a decision then regreting it later...I am very good at...
Have it do if it comes to it..No regrets...
