I noticed that if I'm holding my 3-5 week old chicks and press down on their wings or backs that they raise their tail up like in a squat. Does that mean pullet or do both genders do this?

Why are they doing this? I've never noticed this behavior before. And I mean, REALLY raising their tail, like a hen does when a rooster is mating her. Does a rooster raise his tail if you rub his back? Maybe someone is willing to try this experiment on a cockerel who's around 6 weeks old and see what happens?
Wouldn't it be great if this were a way to sex chicks???

Pullets, Cockerels, Hens and Roosters will lift there tail up like that...

If they were closer to laying age it might be a squat, but at that age, I don't think so.
