bigger birds is kina one of my goals it sounds like I am trying the same base stock you are . hopefuly next week I will be incubating some coturnix eggs got the frankin bator working . got my permit for Bobs last week I picked up a coupla pair of Jumbo Bobs this weekend. I am not sure which ones are purring but it is kina cute , they are kina spazzy though LOL

I weighed all my six week old quail today and an A & M hen weighed 11 ounces. Hopefully she has another couple of weeks of growing to do. She lays the largest egg I've ever seen also. I figure she will be a good start. The regular browns at the same age weighed between 5 and 6 ounces. I just hatched some jumbo goldens yesterday and am going to selectively breed them also. I'd like to hear what other people are doing.

Awesome! I haven't tried to weigh any of mine yet, they are just 3.2 weeks old jumbo cots but there are quite a few chunky butts

I just pinioned them and am trying not to look at them too much so they heal up. I lost a little golden to the pinioning sadly, but he probably wouldn't have made the cut anyway.

no 16oz yet more eggs on the way , i have a few young a&m put all but the biggest in the freezer found a egg in the pen i need to get the weight on them 2 or 3 of them are a lot bigger than the others

I have a few coturnix now, i moved everybody a week ago and now they're making me pay for it! LOL --- For the record, coturnix love sameness and consistancy!!! I seperated everybody out into color pens and upset the apple cart! I'm sure they will kick into full stride again soon, but for now i am only getting a few eggs a day. If you want a small number pm me. Otherwise it'll likely be a week or 2 before the girls get over their hissy fit!

i have some small Golden's now(a quad) ill be setting and selecting for the largest on them... tho if i can find some one that has ones that are a lot bigger i would buy some eggs and go from there... im getting 50 jumbo brown's and 50 A&M's eggs in 2 weeks... the guy im getting them from says that the jumbo's are much bigger than the A&M's are but has not weighed them... but im going to breed them up to get as big as i can get them

Coturnix are lovers of perpetual SAMENESS! Not so boring, is way to much excitement for them.

Change anything...I mean anything, and they will make you pay.

LOL
