If you can't stand up in your run, how do you clean it out?

To clean my coop I have to stoop a little to clean most of it. The portion under the coop is a somewhat pain but I plan on a remedy for this problem, make access under the main door. I will be able to rake it out from outside with minimal bending. To be honest not really a problem, I only rake out the run ever now and then. But I probably would do it more often if access was easier.

It is better to have a run that has a human door that you can get in and out off. (Have the human door open into the run...chickens can rash by you when your door opens out). We started with the largest run the Amish coop maker made. It was 3 ft tall and the door was on top for easy access to the coop door. The run fit up snugly to the coop, and was supposed to be removable. When I tried to pull it away to clean...it was nearly impossible. Besides being heavy, it had settled into the dirt. I had to rake through the top door and used two rack to pull the poop and whatever out of the run. It was a bit of a pain. Plus...I couldn't get in and pick up my chickens or pet them. So, we built another run off the back of the coop that is 5 feet tall and has a human door. WE love it! Our chickens love to come over and get their backs rubbed. Plus, when we let them out to free range, they easily go back in through the human door on their own, we don't have to catch them and put them in. Yes...make a taller run (and bigger then you think you need...because you will find out later they need more room).

Our big run is tall enough to walk into. I designed our chicken tractor, which has a short run, to have a hinged top. We can flip it up and stand inside, if we need or want to. No stooping here!
