I grew up swimming in Lake Huron. I've also gone swimming in Lake Superior ... in June. Wasn't very warm. Cheboygan is a nice town, I've vacationed up there before and our local high school plays them in regional sports.

It would have to be somewhere in the mountains that is not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. Michigan is beautiful but winter is too long for me.
Any suggestions?

I AM HERE! I love it right here! We moved from over-populated South-Central PA (right in the middle between Lancaster Co. and Gettysburg, Harrisburg and Baltimore), 6-years-ago, and haven't regretted it once!

Where did you live in PA? I'm in northern York County. A little crowded but we have some land.

Tennessee!!!!! That's where I am now and I love it!!! We had a rough winter this year but where I am our winter usually lasts from December until February. Last year on Valentines day I was out planting my garden in 70 degree weather.

We have a few hot days in the summer but because we're in the mountain area its cooler than say Knoxville and in the winter, normal temps are around 30 degrees. We do have days where it drops in the teens but overall, high 20's to low 30's is the normal winter temps. After living in NY my entire life and having below zero temps, I can handle this!

Arkansas would be the choice for my family. have tried for several
years to talk my wife and kids into moving there but always a no go.
So last July we went on vacation for about 15 days in Arkansas. We had
not even crossed the state line around Memphis when the kids were
wanting to know when we were going back. Now they want to move there.
Only downside to it all, when we returned from vacation my grandfather had to
start going to have dialysis 3x/week and my wife has to help with them a lot.
That's all that's keeping us in Louisiana right now.
