Personally, I'd check it over and if it looked okay I'd have no qualms about eating it myself. "Best by" dates are pretty subjective, imo. We just ate boxed stuffing dated 2007 for Thanksgiving.......

so yeah, no problem with the chickens. As stated, bugs would just be meat group!
