The really poopy ones go over the fence for the skunk, the medium dirty to mildly dirty ones are kept for home use & only the spotless eggs (or eggs with a fleck of poop that is easily wiped off) get given to others or sold. We have as sliding poop scale.....

I honestly think you people not eating poopy eggs are crazy! Do you think all the eggs sold at the store were laid pristine? I wash those eggs up and then eat them! YUMMY! Sometimes I don't even wash them, but just crack them on the clean side so the egg never touches the poop.

I wash all our eggs (even if there is poo) with Egg Washer Pro solution and very warm water (any hotter and I would burn myself). I use a sponge to scrub away the mud spots, and rinse clean.

I never toss eggs unless they are cracked or have a soft shell.

Oh- and I refrigerate all our eggs.

Think about guys.

The egg passes through a cloaca. A common hole for Urinary, Gut and Reproductive processes.
Every single eggs is contaminated on the surface.
Whether you can see it or not, it is there.

I never clean an egg unless it is visibly dirty and then I just put it with the rest and eat them all. I eat most of my eggs overeasy.

Well, If it were really coated in poo, I could see not wanting to eat it, although even at that, it's just a psychological thing assuming proper cooking. The poo itself isn't getting through into the egg, and the bacteria are probably already there anyway. But, if it's just got a few little specks, it's fine.

Hm weird. In nutrition class we learned to never ever wash the shell of an egg because the water makes it too porous and the germs can penetrate the shell the way...

I just wipe it clean with a rag. Comes off with a bit o' elbow grease. I also collect 3x a day, which helps.
