the offspring if pullets lay the dark brown eggs or will it take over the other half of the mix?
 
ok i see so if you had the dark maran layer and a white leghorn you would prob get like tan eggs then right

is this how you get those super dark ee eggs is by crossing a ee with a maran?

Egg colour genes are not sex-linked--both parents contribute equally.

As a result of several studies, some of the genes affecting egg colour were concluded to be sex linked.
(Punnett & Bailey, 1920; Hall, 1944)​
 
Punnett concluded that some factors affecting brown egg colour were sex linked. There are quite a few factors affecting egg colour.
