We've been labbie folks for a while now; they don't even acknowledge their (4 RIRs, a goose and a duck) presence much less chase them.
An awesome thing about Labradors is they are soft mouthed...they can carry an egg back to the house for you when your hands are full, with out breaking it : )
Just don't make the mistake of saying "drop it" before your hand is right there to catch it
The pups (12 wk pure bred chocolates) on the other hand will chase anything that moves...we have recently started training "no" and yesterday all but one pup stopped the persuit...positive re-inforcement, "good boy" and repetition...always reward for positive results. Two more days and we will have it down. So when they find their forever homes they will already be conditioned not to act as "bird" dogs.
Everyone should have poultry....and a labbie / mix.
Agreed, exercise is key.
