We're still building our coop, but the chicks have outgrown the brooder. They are now in a baby pen with a sheet of plywood on the top. I take it outside in the daytime and bring it in at night. The ladies (I hope...can't tell) are put in a cat carrier and transported between locations. Yesterday, I went to put them in, and one of the grey ones (supposed to be an Americaun) hops up on the carrier, onto the side of the pen, and out into the yard. So here I am, trying to catch this darned chicken, hoping she hasn't given the rest of the flock any bright ideas. I finally grab her, and look back at the pen. There are the other 5 chickens, all looking out at us like it's the best show ever. I swear they were laughing at me.
