If you see a hen panting and looking restless, give her a nest box

Chickens can sit in the nest box for hours sometimes. Sometimes they will sit for a while, leave, and come back. I wouldn’t worry just yet!

My mother (the genius) said that in the video I sent her she was looking at the blue tarp that I used to cover the nests at night, so she said "cover it maybe she just wants more privacy" and 30 minutes after I did that (after 4 and 1/2 hours of her restless and panting) she laid her first egg!!!!

Aww! I always wonder how alarming that first egg might feel from a chicken’a perspective. Congrats on your egg and helping your girl out!
