If you were a chicken egg...

:gig Sorry:oops:

Best of cLuck!!

LOL I mean, at least I found them, right!?!?

Plus, out of 16 eggs (we used 4 for nest eggs) 10 were still good! Two weren’t very fresh but I plan on finally having my first chicken eggs this week! Will obviously crack them in a separate dish to make sure they don’t smell bad or have anything wrong with them, but I’m excited!

You mean like fake eggs in the new nest?
Not sure I'd do that in TX, might incubate or go back and blow up:sick

No, they’re real eggs but they’ll only be there for a day or so. Once I can get to the co-op, I’ll pick up the fake eggs. Hoping I can get there today or tomorrow.

No rooster, so no reason to incubate!

I hope you marked the old eggs so you know what ones they are, lol.

I was going to suggest that you build them a nest box or 2 in the barn, so great minds work alike...

Golf balls worked great for my chickens. Until the kittens found them and stole them all out of the nest boxes.

Oh, and If I were a chicken egg - I would hatch as a Barred Rock, I love the dizzying effect of the barring on their feathers.

I was definitely going to say they are laying in the barn you just have to watch and find out where...lol

On the older eggs, hard boil them and blitz them up in a food processor and feed them back to the pullets. It's an amazing source of protein and Vitamin D which they need to process calcium.

If you want to encourage them to lay in the coop, I'd suggest lowering and baiting the nest boxes with artificial eggs. Keep them locked up until 11 or 12 and your morning layers will use them, hopefully convincing the afternoon layers to use them as well. Moving their feed and water to the area their boxes are would also probably help.

And if I hatched into a chicken... I'd be a Bantam Orpington.
