Hi

I have just found your site while I was looking for what was wrong with my chicken. I have four backyard chooks and they roam free in my garden during the day and at night are enclosed.

They are fed on layer mash and free to peck the garden, I dont use any chemicals.

The last week and a half I have had one chicken look unwell, at first she just seemed to be losing her feathers and then she started walking very slowly around the garden. I kept an eye on her and for a few days and nothing changed, she seemed to peck at the grass and drink water so I thought she would be OK.

Then when nothing changed I thought she might have an egg stuck as her poo was white and runny. I found a site that said by placing her vent in warm water for 20 minutes it would relax muscles and she could pass the egg. I did this not sure if that was actually wrong with her and although she picked up a,little - nothing.

It is now four days later and today I found her on the bottom of her sleepy area I dont think she had the strength to climb up last night. I lifted her out and placed her in the run near the food. I came home from work tonight and she was in the same spot just stadning with her head tucked into her body. It looked like she had two deposits of yellow/orangy watery poo.

I tried to give her water and some yoghurt but she will not take anything. When I pick her up she just relaxes into my arms and does not move.

I have separated her from the other 3 who all seem perfectly fine. I laid her onto some straw in a separate enclosure.

What else can I do?

Please help.
