can anyone help i went to give my hens breakfast this morning and found georgina sitting in the nest box i wasnt sure if she was laying an egg so i left her for 15 mins. all her feathers are puffed up ans she wont eat or drink. she hardly even opens her eyes... what can i do? im so worried about her

I am by no means an expert, still fairly new at this...but no one else seems to be answering you. Have you checked her for the usual culprits: impacted or sour crop, egg bound? or could she be broody?

Yes I don't think it is either. She is sleepi g and will hardly even wake up

thanks for your replies. i took Georgina to the vet and he said it could be peritonitis he gave her antibiotics and some fluids with a syringe but she died this evening. It was very sad and she was a much loved member of the family. thank you for all your advice. i hope she remembers the months of freedom she had and didnt remember her life in the battery farm.

Aw thank you for your nice msgs. I think most ppl think I'm mad for loving my girls so much but only other chicken enthusiasts can understand. She was my little love. Will miss her so much and I will continue to helpany more like her in her memory
