I can't stand it, I've lost my bantam rooster, and my two favorite pullets, AND when I was going to lock up last night, a fox had one of my other pullets, and he was shaking it back and forth, thankfully, I threw an empty milk jug at it and it dropped my pullet and ran, but the pullet was ok. Anyway, it all started a few nights ago when I couldn't find my favorite pullet who I had seen that morning, got eaten. I never found any feathers or anything, I just never found her. And then yesterday, my dad had seen a red fox in the yard(it was a different fox than the one I saw last night, it was bigger, like a small-ish dog- Coyote maybe?)
(it was broad day, but we think it because it was raining and darkish out he came anyway) chasing our chickens, it managed to get my bantam rooster, and my other favorite pullet, and then last night, well, I already told you. And we have been hearing stange screaming noises in the woods at night

to me the screaming noises sound like coyotes, i know we have a bunch around here. are your chickens free range, i do not let mine free range because of this. i have had them come right up to my deck in broad daylight. I sure hope you get that predator. i know i would be sitting with my 22 also
Best of luck and so sorry for your losses

when the coyotes get going here i always tell my husband they sound like a bunch of hyenas... it sure is creepy sounding..
wow i didnt know that abut foxes good to know thanx

We used to live up in the Texas hill county. At one time I counted 5 foxes in my yard. Since I nor my neighbors had chickens I would feed them off my back deck. The were quite use to me but if anyone else was with me they would raise all kinds of cane. The first time I heard them it solved alot of "what was that". We moved into the valley and we have foxes yotes dogs cats birds snakes ect. Everyone Wants a fresh chicken dinner.
