I started out with a Barred rock, He turned evil. I ended up with another cockeral Names Chuck he was evil too. Now I have a cockeral (red sexlink and he bit me today) hes 15 weeks about.. I dont baby rooster like with my fist one, I learned from that mistake. Maybe I dont have good luck.

and suggestions on "nice" roosters, I know all roosters are different but what breed of nice rooster do you have? and what did you do that made him nicer then the average roo?

Thanks but im a long way from maine, im in Wisconsin. Do EEs count? I ordered 5 EE's maybe one will be a roo? (i dont know thats the closes thing to a ameraucana) I know there not the same thing though.

honestly, it depends on what breed the hatchery crossed with....I have heard it go both ways. Hopefully one of them will be nice

My first rooster did not work out. Our 2nd rooster was/is a keeper

He is a d'uccle (bantam), and was grown when we got him, so the folks who had him already KNEW that he was not aggressive. So "adopting" a mature, proven rooster may be the way to go for you.

When you say "evil", what do you mean? If the roosters are aggressive with you, then you can use the techniques in my sig to help. If they are ungentle with the ladies, then they need to learn. My rooster had a rocky start and got swatted a few times, but he quickly learned that standing in front of a hen and biting her comb was not nearly as gratifying as coming from behind.

Nice to the girls, Attacked me. My Barred rock Duke, he tried to spur me in my eye balls and flew up and got me in the face.
My Red sex link has bit me twice already and has NOT even started roo puberty yet

And chuck kept flogging me

Thats what I mean by "evil"

Try a favorelle or a silkie. I also have d'uccles, but I think temperment is bred. My older ones are great, but some of their offspring crossed with hatchery hens are nippy and get a napoleon complex. I agree with older proven roo-- the young ones like to test their mettle in their teenage hormonal period.
