I'll never find the right rooster :( can you help? UPDATE: PIC of roo!

lol, SO looks like all we're going to do is confuse you, one thing lol maybe the question should've been what breed not to get cause the definitive answer to that one would appear to be Rhode island Reds lol.

I have EEs.... two of my roos are super sweet, one is an attacker. He has never been able to hurt me, but he did get my son.
I think you just have to keep trying and hope you get lucky.

The next time you get chicks seperate the one that you think is a rooster. And hold it each time you get chance and it will jump on your lap and follow you

. I would recommend the silkie rooster or Black sex link .

Of the last three roosters we have had, all EE's

The current and very old red/wheaton? roo is the only good guy. He is about 10+ years old, he watches for his gals, you can sit on the ground and turn your back to him and all he does is walk around front to see what you are up too.

The next white EE, Stew, was MEAN you had to carry a broom with you and watch your back, he lasted a few years til we had both had enough of that guy!

The latest white EE, was starting to get mean and before he got too old to be tough (we were too late)Kentuky Fried, was no more either........... (mom is 87 so no mean roos around here!)

I don't know what you have for hens, but I will always havw a Buff Orpington rooster around! Sweetest things! Never had one bit, or even offer to! Just handle the "Lady Business"! I even have one that is a pet! He walks on his harness and leash like a champ! I would highly recommend this breed if you want a nice rooster! I have had atleast 10 different ones, and NONE of them have tried ANYTHING!

My suggestion is to start with daily hazing. As soon as a roo gets aggressive toward you, go into zero tolerance mode. Stick the rooster in chicken jail away from the hens or catch him and hold him under your arm while petting him and treating him like a little sissy in front of the hens. Next day, go back to daily hazing.

You can read more at my Handling Rooster Aggression page .
