What good is 1 chicken?!?!?

Ijust became illegal. Town had allowed them but decided they should start passing new ordinances...we can't have kennels, hutches, coops or anything like within 20 ft of the propety line or 100 ft of another dwelling...nice...considering my lot is 100x125 and the neighbor is 3 ft off the property line...I would bet 75% of the town does't have a lot big enough to put a dog house in now...won't go into why they passed it but it wasn't motivated by nice feeling to all groups...I refuse to count muy animals cuz i don't wanna know...

We have 7 pullets/hens, along with 12 currently viable eggs in the bator, going into lockdown in 5 days. I'm anticipating at LEAST half will hatch, and at least half of those will be cockerels. We live in town and are much like you in that we have a 6 foot privacy fence and no issues with our neighbors (many of whom already have their own birds). We have no roosters at this time, though a friend of mine has one she needs to rehome & I really like him and think he's very beautiful so we are seriously considering taking him on (esp. since my friend will take him back if there are any problems with him).

We would like to have a total of 10 in our flock. Started out just 2 or 3... LOL. Yeah, right.

I have about 100 quail, 30 chickens including a few roosters, and did I mention my meat rabbits? They complain but I don't really listen. I am zoned residential agriculture but in the city. We were there before the houses that surround us now so they know what they moved to. Not my problem they moved next to me.

They heard the rooster when they moved. That should be a warning. If you don't like it there is nothing you can do. After all it is my property.

We have 7 illegal hens in our backyard. They just started up laying again after their molt, and they have been REALLY noisy for the past week or so. We are getting pretty nervous because they start getting loud at 7:30 in the morning and basically scream on and off until about 11:30 or so.

We raised them from chicks and they are now about 18 months old, and no complaints from the neighbors so far. But we do get really stressed when they are loud thinking that someone will call animal control on us. I wish we would have started with maybe 3 or 4, but they are pets now so it would be so hard to get rid of them.

Anyone have any advice on illegal chickens who are loud in the morning? Do you think it would be best to visit my neighbors and ask them if the noise is bothering them? I'm kind of scared to let anyone know I have them though...but I would hate for one of my neighbors to be annoyed with the noise and call animal control rather than talking to us first. Any advice???
