Illinois...

We had several half Silky and half barred rock. Talk about a funny looking bird. LOL I have silky hens but non of there eggs were fertile. The Silkie rooster seemed to like the barred rocks and Rhode Islands reds more.

I'm considering selling my Brahmas, blue laced red and black laced red. Have a nice starter flock here. I don't really have the space, or time for 2 breeds anymore.

I'm not going to get into details if nobody is interested, but these birds are really good, show quality type of birds- from a Breeder line.

Sorry for 3 post in a row my stupid smart phone had a mind of its own, had to go back to the good ol' computer. I am looking for hatching eggs to buy in southern IL preferably within an hour ish from Mt. Vernon and fairly inexpensive as I'm new to incubating. I am mainly looking for buff orpington, barred rock, or ameraucana, but I would consider other breeds too. If anyone has some eggs or knows where I can find some please send me a message. Thanks!

Hi, I am Mary. I am on the south side of Chicago (Mt. Greenwood area). I have 3 hens, Rhode Island red, Barred Rock and Buff Orp. I wanted some blue eggs, so I got 10 cream legbars eggs and hatched them on 10/18. 6 out of 10 hatched, which I thought that was pretty good since they were shipped to me. I am now the proud mom of 3 hens and 3 roos. Need to find homes for 2 of the roos, but I think I am going to wait. I have 1 that has a lot of brown coloring, 1 with a lot of white/creamy coloring and one in between. I need to do some research on what is more along the good gene line for legbars. Next are blue copper marans and black copper. Going to crossbreed maran with legbars so I can get some olive eggers. I am sooooo addicted! I need to move to the country!
