Illinois...

To prepare for the new Star Wars movie, we watched TV this evening. Then the kids thought it would be fun to let a few chickens watch some of movie with us. They brought in Princess Lay-a, Hen Solo, Darth Layer, & Cookie (nicknamed the "Bantam Menace"). We sold Chew-BAWK-a & were out of laps anyway.

Nothing like "Chicken Movie Night"! We draped old towels across our laps & as usual, the hens snuggled down. With all the crazy holiday schedules, it was nice to spend a quiet night at home.
Somehow, I feel only chicken people will understand the simple pleasure of tonight.

Edit: Auto-correct strikes again. We watched the orig Star Wars movie, episode IV. Since we watched it on our TV, the spell checker wasn't off by much. I just thought it was cute that the kids insisted that our Star Wars hens must be allowed to watch some of the movie. Sorry no pics this time.

This is "Sweetie". She has gone broody for a few weeks now. I pull her out every morning to make sure she gets a drink and some of the better snacks as she won't hardly leave on her own. Today, I noticed that she looks like a sun burst with a chicken face, LOL.

I went out to take some pics today.
I think I got my roo's bad side.

My sweet, gentle boy looks so scary.

Here's a better pic. As you can see, he's really not a big scary roo.
He's a lover, not a fighter. (BTW- The hens really do love him since he's a gentleman & offers them treats.)

I was playing around with shutter speed & aperture settings, so the colors may look off. He's BLACK with that iridescent green shine. not green.

He is a handsome boy! But that pic above does look scary. Sometimes pictures can really show us some things we never saw, like Thelma's beard and eyebrows, that I never noticed. LOL

What a weekend. Lost my wedding band yesterday morning. Spent half the day looking for it everywhere. The other half I spent at Jared's, my husband took me to pick out a new ring. Practically tried them all on and I didn't like any of them. Went out to clean the coop and do some work outside this am, and was so happy to see my ring laying in the bedding! Today was a much better day, at least for me. My splash orps were moved out to the coop today, and they didn't seem to be very happy.

Quote: You would have that chicken that laid the GOLDEN EGG.

Trouble is always the 1st to greet me.

Cuddles is always the most excited to greet me.

Trouble & Bubbles like to jump up onto whatever is near me (tree branch, chair, fence, etc) to see if I'm carrying treats. Today Bubbles surprised me by jumping up onto my forearm. I was standing, so not expecting it. She's a lot bigger than Trouble.
