When I first got my chickens, I got four. One day, one of them (Hidey) started looking ill. She was staying on her own and not moving as much, and not eating very much and her eyes were red. We assumed this was because she was old. A few days later, she died. About a year later, another chicken, Peckles, looked ill. We knew she was going to die, but we weren't expecting her to die when she did. Not that long after, I got another chicken. This one was gray, unlike all the others which were Rhode island reds. I got three more chickens from my cousins. Not long after, a chicken called Naomi look quite ill but didn't' die. Soon, one called Emily died. Shortly after, one of my chickens called Speckles died. Now one called Pandora is looking ill.

I want to find out what is wrong with them in case I can help.

Note: my chicken coop is made out of chicken wire and has no roof and the chicken house is fine.

! Great to have you in our community! Your message kind of cut out there at the end so I'm sure if I have the full picture. How old are these birds that are dying? If you suspect disease you should post as much information as possible into a post in the link below. Good luck to you!

maybe there is some disease/parasites lurking in your soil, coop etc, that infects new birds after you get them. Have your birds ever been treated for worms, lice, mites, etc?

Have you examined them for any such pests? Do all your birds come from the same place (hatchery or whatever?) Are you feeding them good quality food? Are they eating any old, moldy feed - this can kill them. In summer with rain, heat, humidity feed can go bad rapidly.

You could post symptoms in detail on "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread but they would need specifics - what were first symptoms, what age, etc. etc. Have you done anything to self doctor them or help them in any way?
