I am quite new to chickens, and will be getting three pullets in Spring.
I do not have any chickens right now.
I will be getting the following breeds:
    Plymouth Rock
    Lavender Orpington
    Blue bantam Cochin

I found out about backyardchickens.com by browsing the internet while looking for chicken help and support.
My others hobbies are soccer, writing, and art. I would like to become a Veterinarian in the future.
My family consists of five people. My dad, mom, 2 brothers, and I. I have five other pets. 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 1 lizard. I work three days a week as a paper girl (I just started middle school)

Hay! I just started middle school to. Yes! I'm not alone. Alright I will tell you about chickens. I have about 17, so you need a coop or at least some shelter the food you can feed is (start and grow) for chicks and regular pellets for chickens. Predators are every ware so you need fencing or something to protect them. As they get older you can let them have more freedom. I have cochin bantam the issue is they fly. So you might want to think about trimming wings though my chickens never go far without coming back. I have partridge though your getting blues. [IMG][IMG]

Welcome to BYC, again. Somehow you ended up with a duplicate thread.) As I stated when I greeted you in your other thread, you've picked some very friendly, gentle, and docile breeds. My children made lap pets out of our Orpingtons and Cochins. If you are getting bantam Cochins, I would not personally mix them in with the Plymouth Rocks and Orpingtons as they will likely take a battering from the larger birds. You might want to consider getting standard sized Cochins instead. Not only will they mix fine with the other two breeds, but you will get larger eggs from them as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your flock.
